Your skin will eventually show signs of aging, no matter how carefully you eat, exercise, and moisturize. In Nyack, NY, Lazur La Vie offers a variety of treatments to help combat these signs and keep you looking young. Microneedling, which we perform with the DermaFrac device, is one of our most effective treatments.
How Often Can You Get Microneedling?
Your goals and skin condition will be taken into account when designing your treatment plan. Generally, it is best to schedule treatment about every month or every six weeks. By removing dead skin cells and creating micro-injuries, microneedling stimulates your body to produce new collagen and other tissues, restoring your face and rejuvenating your appearance.
Due to the way the process works, you need to give your skin time to regenerate before trying another treatment. The average person has to wait a month or a little longer for that to happen. In addition, the frequency of treatment varies depending on whether this is your first time undergoing treatment or not.
Your First Few Treatments
It can sometimes be helpful to get a series of treatments scheduled relatively close together if you are getting this treatment for the first time or after a long break. This essentially jump-starts your body’s rejuvenation cycle to get you results as quickly as possible. The initial series of treatments will likely take about four months to complete.
Further Down the Line
When you’ve finished your initial treatments, you can come less often for maintenance treatments in order to maintain your results. Usually, treatment intervals range from six to eight weeks at this point. As your treatment progresses, you will see gradual improvements over time.
For long-term maintenance after your initial treatment cycle is completed, you may only need to receive treatment once or twice a year: but with the power of the serums provided by the unique DermaFrac system, you may find you love the refreshed look and feel you get so much you want to have treatment more often.
How Many Treatments Will I Need in Total?
Your skin condition, overall health, and age will determine how many treatments you need to see results. It may take up to eight treatments to see a noticeable difference if you have significant issues, such as deep scarring.
What Is DermaFrac?
In the field of micro-needling therapy, DermaFrac is the newest advancement. Through collagen production, it revives and restores damaged skin. Its main advantage over other methods is that DermaFrac delivers nourishing and infused ingredients deep into the skin while it also promotes the production of collagen.
There is a serum cartridge included in the advanced precision handpiece, and you can choose from options that lighten, clarify, hydrate, or rejuvenate the skin. The Clarify serum, for example, contains lactic and salicylic acid to control breakouts, while the Hydrate contains hyaluronic acid, which attracts water molecules to the skin and keeps the skin plump and supple.
This system also includes LED therapy, which treats specific skin concerns like acne and erythema.
How Does It Work?
A microneedle device first creates tiny perforations in the skin’s dermis layer. In addition to triggering the cells’ natural healing response, this also helps to eliminate impurities lingering deep within the pores. Furthermore, these micro-holes allow the serums to smoothly pass deeper into the skin, resulting in a healthier, smoother, and more radiant complexion.
What Are the Benefits of DermaFrac?
Microneedling in general is a great way to address a variety of skin issues and produce new, healthy skin, naturally, but the serums and LED therapy offered by this device enhance those results. The DermaFrac system is particularly good at addressing:
Scars and stretch marks
Deeper wrinkles and folds
Poor skin texture
What Can I Expect?
The time it takes to treat a person’s face will vary depending on the skin condition they are trying to treat and the severity. For most people, treatments are less than an hour. You won’t feel any pain or discomfort during treatment, either.
Customization is one of the best features of this treatment. This device can be used to treat simple issues such as texture, enlarged pores, fine lines, or minor scarring with only very shallow depth penetration needed. For deep scarring and wrinkles, this device can go even deeper.
How Exactly Does Microneedling Work?
In the aftermath of an injury, our bodies begin repairing the damage right away. This is accomplished by increasing blood flow to the injured area, which signals the body to release healing factors and growth factors that build new cartilage and blood vessels. Controlling and harnessing this process is how microneedling works.
In microneedling, small injuries are created, and while these injuries aren’t painful and cannot harm you, they do lead your body to think that it needs to rush to repair them. The extracellular matrix will be rebuilt and strengthened after your session as your body begins building a new network of blood vessels. The extracellular matrix acts as a firm foundation under the skin that we can see, so as it weakens, our visible skin looks older: this treatment fixes that problem. Microneedling rebuilds this matrix as fresh skin, collagen, and other tissues are then replaced by the body in the area.
You will have a refreshed appearance as this new skin replaces the wrinkled, scarred, and stretched older skin and as the serums go to work.
Am I a Good Candidate?
If you are interested in this treatment, please come to our office so we can discuss your goals and create a treatment schedule for you. Regardless of skin tone or type, this treatment is safe for everyone. Treatment is normally not available to people with active infections at the treatment site.
The only thing you need to do before treatment is to follow a few simple instructions. During your consultation, we will let you know more, but in general, you should avoid getting a sunburn, pause any autoimmune medications, and avoid blood thinners. This includes certain over-the-counter medications and supplements that can thin the blood, like aspirin or St. John’s Wort.
In the first 24-72 hours following treatment, you should treat your skin gently. On the first day after treatment, rinse the area with lukewarm water but don’t use soaps. In the following days, only use very gentle cleansers and don’t use exfoliators. Touch the treatment area only after your hands have been thoroughly cleaned and avoid the sun as much as you can. More details will be given to you before you leave.
Can I Do This Treatment at Home?
While there are many microneedling devices available online, all of them promising great results, you should avoid doing this treatment yourself at home. One of the most important considerations is thoroughly sanitizing not only the treatment area but also the treatment device. Infection is likely to occur without the right sanitation. We put our device through a thorough sanitation process before each client comes in, and we will also ensure your skin is thoroughly cleansed.
The inability of at-home treatments to be customized is another reason why they are inferior to an office treatment. An at-home device may be too harsh on one part of your face and useless in another since all of the needles on the device are one depth. Your treatment cannot be customized to address specific skin concerns with varying depths of treatment or with serums that target your particular needs.
Our office provides a much more comfortable and effective treatment, too. In the case of self-treatment, you do not have access to topical anesthetics to ensure comfort, and you are more likely to miss certain areas or go over them inadequately.
